Message From Your President

To the members and guests of the NAWIC Houston Chapter,

It has been an honor to serve as your Chapter President for the past 2 terms. It has been a
challenge I have enjoyed all the way through. We have accomplished much as a chapter and we
have touched the lives of many. I have seen the growth and development, both personally and
professionally of several of our members. It is an ongoing goal to lift up and support women in the
construction industry, and I would say each of you have helped to support this goal!

In the past 2 years, I have watched our membership double! I believe thanks are in order for the
continued efforts of our membership chair Cathy McDow and to all the members who have helped
make this possible. Each of you have reached out and shared your knowledge with other women
and the mentoring that has occurred has been amazing.

I would like to thank every member of the Board! You ladies have shown me what true leadership
means. Each of you has helped to make the Houston Chapter the best it can be. The programs
have been informative, our reach into the community has been outstanding, the participation in
trade shows and other industry events has delivered the message we hoped to send. NAWIC
supports women in the construction industry and it enhances women and their careers.
Passing the torch to President-Elect Laurie Jimenez fills me with joy and sadness. I have
experienced my own growth during this time and have been able to advance in ways I never
thought possible, but I am excited to support Laurie as she takes the reins. My sincerest wish is
that each of you will support her the way you have supported me.

I wish the incoming Officers and Board of Directors lots of luck and encouragement. Your journey
will be awesome and fulfilling. To the members, this is your chapter and I know that these ladies
want it to be everything you expect it to be. So, I encourage you strongly to get involved, lift up
your voice and tell them your thoughts and remember you get out of any organization what you
are willing to put in to it!

You are incredible women and I look forward to the coming year!

Houston Chapter President 2011-2013

Ladies, our July social at Cedar Creek Cafe was a successful event! We had many members and guests who attended. Thank you to United Rentals
Trench Safety for sponsoring drinks and appetizers. Special thank you to Clunn Acoustical, Laurie Jimenez, Energy Waterproofing & Roofing
Systems, and United Rentals for sponsoring some great door prizes! We topped off the night by drawing names for “boss of year” nominations and
congrats to Steve Tschepl from United Rentals. We look forward to more events such as this in the future and hope y’all can attend if you didn’t
make this one!
