Building the next generation of women in construction

Houston Chapter 3

Our Mission

Picture
NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more.
Our focus is to enhance the success of women in construction and assist in the development of the current and future leaders of our industry.

Our History

The owner of Gregory-Edwards, Inc., a Houston HVAC mechanical contractor, encouraged his female employees to attend a meeting for women in the construction industry. The first organizational meeting of what was to become the Houston Chapter was held in the home of Florence Harrison. In addition to Florence, Grace Dockal, Patsy Minor, Frances Galvin, Carrie Ann Marquette, Jane Harris, Ouida Rouse and Ann Judice attended this meeting. These eight ladies called their friends, and 44 women signed the charter to establish the Houston chapter on June 21, 1956.
