The first organizational meeting of what was to become the Houston Chapter was held in the home of Florence Harrison. In addition to Florence, Grace Dockal, Patsy Minor, Frances Galvin, Carrie Ann Marquette, Jane Harris, Ouida Rouse and Ann Judice attended this meeting. These eight ladies called their friends, and 44 women signed the charter to establish the Houston chapter on June 21, 1956.
